Default New Shocks - Now new noise

Just had new shocks put in my 05 xk8. Took it in to the dealer because of brake squeal. Service dept said the brakes were good but I needed new shocks. Still have brake squeal.
Is this normal? Service said front brake pads were 90% and rear pads 85%.
Thanks.
Howard

Welcome to the forum!

New shocks needed on a 3/4 year old car is very, veryunusual. My 2000 XK8 had 110k miles and the shocks were fine. Was the work done under warranty? If so, congratulations! If not I would have questions about the dealer, especially if they replaced all four.

Squealing brakes are also unusual. Have they been replaced with other than OEM or one of the common upgades?

The shock replacement was covered by the warranty. But the breaks still squeal as the car is coming to a stop. I am thinking of taking it to a different dealer.

its common with semi metalic pads if you drive it like a woman, No offense.. But if you brake lightly alot, then it tends to glaze the pads and make them squeel. Kind of like when I drive my wifes Jag, the brakes dont squeel, but she get them to squeel alot, what the difference, same car, same brakes!!!! The way the brakes are used. Try this go out on a desolit road, and panic brake forwards and in reverse a few times, like a dog ran in front of you....okay make it a child, and see if that doesnt help, and quit brakes 1/4 mile before a stop and leave room between you and the car in front in traffic so you can coast down more and not constantly get on and off the brakes. And when you need to brake...BRAKE....see if that doesnt stop the noise, but if you brake the way youve always braked, youll get what youve always got
And on your shocks you may not have noticed anything, but if theres oil leakage on 1 and they have some mileage on them, you have to replace them in pairs since shock performance degrades over time, and not doing in pairs can leave you with a car that teter toters over bumps. I forget the exact mileage and time, but after that Jag says to replae in pairs, before that, only 1 at a time is neccessary
