New wheels are on! Im still in shock. So different!!
He's already changed his mind on the color about 4 times. At first he wanted dorchester grey. Then he wanted Copper Black Metallic, then he wanted the acura metallic black bronze or something like that, then he was longing for Black oak metallic and now he's fondling the idea of using tuxedo black. Am I missing any colours here?
At the end of the day, I like the black but I just want to freshen up the look since I have a chance. At least you can see I'm struggling with all blackish colors. I'm down to the wire now and rethinking it every minute!!

Here they are!
Here they are!
Arden's rims (by OZ) IMHO are the best available for XK8.
After sleeping on it, I think it's still too soon to like/dislike my new wheels. To be fair, the car is all janked up because of the lower front end and high rear end. My body shop guy is also a tuner and is swapping out all my springs to the mina lowering set, and replacing my front mounts. I figured between the new mounts and the new springs, if my factory springs have sagged which seems to be the consensus, this should level out the car and lower it properly.
The space around the rear wheels is what's really throwing me. When they were all black, the wheels looked bigger and the space wasn't so obvious.
Paint wise, I'm completely befuddled!!

And yes, the arden are the best, outside of factory, but look at the price!$$$$$
On the other hand, better to keep changing his mind now before paint goes on.
Phil, do what my wife does when she (I) have to paint another room in the house. Buy small amounts of the colors you think may work and test them on a scrap piece of metal. Once paint is on and dried it almost always looks different than in the can.
A 2'x2' or 3'x3' piece of sheet metal is cheap and you can take it out in the sunshine and see how it looks.

Better yet, just make a final decision and live with it. Your new paint will be a big improvement over the old, spider-webbed, pitted, and scratched surfaces that you have previously described....
Remember, it's just a &%$#@&! car, not a life-or-death matter. You're injecting far too much drama into this equation....

A local furniture store owner/interior decorator once said "Go with your first reaction. If you don't like it, get rid of it immediately, because once you get used to it, you are stuck with it."
Those struck me as wise words, and I heard them some 40 or so years ago.

That's what my painter wants to do. I'm gonna wait and see after car is painted. Now he found a new color Ferrari metallic black. I'm at a point I really don't care any more. Ill be suprised! Attachment 58045
phil, though I haven't been a witness to all of your various machinations, I have seen enough of them to realize that no matter which color (colour) you decide to go with, there is no doubt in my mind that very shortly thereafter you will wish you had chosen a different one, and then we will all be entertained as to what your next choice of color for your car, and your wheels will be. In a few weeks you will see another color that you will wish that you had chosen.
I don't think that you will ever be satisfied, no matter what, and if or when you are, you will decide to sell that car and get another one and start all over again.
Such is life.
