Default new XK8 - issues so far

Hey Guys
So just introduced myself over on the new member thread...
thought I would let you know how my experience of xk8 ownership has gone so far... not all that well! I bought a 62,000 mile 1996 XK8 in feb and have basically just got it back from the garage... wallet somewhat lightened!

So far I've had:
Sump seal
Rear main seal
Gearbox oil seal.
Gear box oil cooler pipe
Gear box oil change
Gearbox front pump rebuild
gearbox oil cooler pipe
left Upper control arm
steering column
Oil cooler
Front pads
Rear pads
Starter motor
many many bolts that where corroded into thier threads and had to be drilled out.

For the record if I bought another I'd go less on overall condition, history and miles and be much stricter in assessing possible oil leaks and be much less accepting of small handling defects.

still I love driving it and am working hard to get it back to as good a condition as possible... to that end:
I've removed a horrid 1990's hands free kit! - thanks to Rev for center consul removal video!
yesterday I changed left rear Sub using instructions found on the forum... i'll post some comments in the relevant thread.
I've added some chrome rings to the instruments from admesh, very well made.
added obligatory and probably soon to be stolen growler tire value caps..

Welcome. Check this forum for other common issues with this model, such as plastic tensioners and tranny problems. It's best to be proactive.
