Info Center controls not working

I recently purchased a '99 XK8 and I feel lucky, so far, that I don't seem to have any real electronics bugs. However, one that I do have is the control center for the ODO/Trip. I have the odo reporting in the cluster, but the controls for the trip seem dead, so I can't change from miles to klm, and I can't get the trip to show in the cluster. Is this a bug in the instruments or is there a fuse that I may have missed when I checked them all? At this point, the odo is showing numbers, but I have no way of knowing if they are miles or klicks. Wishful thinking would be that they were in klicks...

Anybody have a clue to this?

Thanks, in advance.

I see you have found the best jaguar forum on the net. My advice still stands. Use the button on the end of the turn signal to scroll through the various readings, then use the buttons on the dash to change them. Good luck.

Remove the wood panel as shown in this video....maybe the connector to the switch panel is just unplugged. It would not be the first time....

Not sure I understand the exact problem, definatly try the stalk button first, but there's an electronic plug and connector behind the trip resetter that may be loose or unplugged if nothing still works. You have to remove the wood instrument panel to get to it.

Yes, I believe I have found "The Best" right here. Thanks for your input. Haven't been down to the car since I posted, but I will definitely check the stalk button...

Thanks for your help

Thanks for your post. I watched the vid and can see just how that switch could get unplugged. I need to replace a bulb (will do them all for good measure) in the cluster anyway so I will check and clean the contacts while I'm there.

Before taking anything apart, check the Driver Manual for the full details on this function.

If you haven't got the handbooks, they're available through this thread:
