Default Newbie has top fixed thanks to good info

Hey guys I have my 99 xk8. top working like new. I researched the many posts and went with a set of full hoses from Jag. Removed complete interior except dash(needed a major cleaning) and was very easy to replace hoses. took several cycles for top to work with key at drivers door, but now all seems good. Only thing not working is dash switch for top rear windows. This maybe due to oil from original leak . Is there a quick test for this switch? Any suppliers aftermarket or is this a dealer item.
Thanks again for all the great info.

Are you saying that the rear windows go up and down when you use the key in the door, but they don't when you press the convertible top button on the dash? That's really weird. Do they not go up or down with the switch, or do they just not go up? I'm asking because if they don't go down, then I don't know how the top could go down because the electronic doohicky that controls the sequence of the convertible top needs to see that the windows are down before it ever starts moving the top. If pressing the button didn't lower the windows, then the top would never start to move.
