Subject line says it all. When I turn the steering wheel, it sounds as if a cable is rotating (high pitch), left or right, while driving or while in park.

So, let's play, "What's my problem?"

2004 XK 8.

Thanks, as always.

I have had a noise coming from the steering column also. It was worse last summer, and has seemed to be lessening as of late. Mine sounded more like a collar was rubbing inside, but I could see how you might think it was a cable rotating. I was going to pull the column and have a look see, but then it just seemed to clear up by itself. I am wondering if something was rubbing and it simply rubbed clear of the interference. Cars that heal themselves are my favorite kind.
