Happy newyear, merry christmas and more ;)
Hello guys!
Beeing new to the forum, I would like to thank you for beeing so forthcoming to us new users, who will hopefully be contributors somewhere down the line.
Then I will use this chance to wish everybody a great holliday, and a happy new year when it arrives next week.
Then a few tidbits from my other Family car, Ford Mondeo 2002 TDDI.
We developed a problem with the engine, which proves to be the diesel pump. The diesel pump actually costs around 1500£ including fitment. Something like 3000$. Beeing utterly amazed by this price, I did check some other jobs what it would cost. Like clutch change.. Dealership told me this very often costs around 2800£ or 5600$. Having a split flywheel, they often prove to be worn when the clutch is. And the worn flywheel wears the starter. So a simply clutch change, usually means flywheel, clutch and starter..
The moral of the story beeing, XK8's are not that expensive to maintain actually. Compared to a Ford Mondeo diesel they are not bad at all!
At this stage the XK8 works as the only running car in the family Freighting kids, wife and myself back and forth from work, kinder garden and the shop.
Cheers, Jarle
