Default noise when starting my xk8

Hello, so i am new to your site, living in Paris...I was wondering if somebody got a small noise when starting a XK8 (from 2001), the noise is not strong, like a small couuuuuik (sorry don t know how to describe), coming from somewhere in the engine, like in front, it stays 3-5 minutes and then vanishes. When the car has been running, if i start again, nothing. I asked one dealer, they don t know much about xk8, they remember that at one point Jaguar suggested to inject some liquid or gel or ...somewhere, but could find the name again. They say it is really nothing much, but it would be interesting to know what it is and then i could try to fix it. Well many thanks for advices

I would have someone pull the valve covers and inspect the upper timing tensioners. If these are beginning to crack, you can replace. If they give way, you are running a good chance of cratering the engine.

Go to my page my webpage http://www.gusglikas.com/AutoRepairBeltTensioner.htm. I have 2 videos on the page that will give you a noise and the cause. See if the noise is what you are hearing.

Try rubbing a soap bar or deodorant stick outside or inside the belt while it is turning. Be carefull not the get your hand or finger caught. This should eliminate the noise if coming from the belt. Most likely, you need a new belt and tensioner.

thanks to you all, yes indeed, it was the belt and tensioner, they told me it is very frequent, at least on the car they have here in France, specially before 2003 or 2004..., i learn about this nice car step by step, but very slow...
