Default NOS vs Methanol

Hi guys
I am after some advice and comments..
I have a lower pulley fitted and planing to fit an upper pulley as well.
My longer term thoughts are to fit a NOS kit later. As I can't afford a twin screw.
I have lots of thoughts on cooling the supercharger an up rated radiator is about £550 but that only gets the coolant near to ambient. The NOS will help in that regard to but I do have some concerns over the cost of filling the bottle.
The other thought was water and methanol injection as this may be cheaper to run but won't have the performance gains which is a shame as I would like to get close to 500 bhp.
So after my rambling what's your thoughts am I mad!!! Or what?

Ian

I have a water methanol system installed on an otherwise stock car and can confirm that it doesn't make noticeably more power. What it does do, is make power more consistently by cooling the intake charge.

One relatively inexpensive option is to install an up-rated intercooler pump which can be had for $100US or there abouts.

If more power is what you are after then you can't beat NOS in the bang for your buck sense. That said, I've seen the insides of a few engines that have run NOS and that stuff is not kind to them.

If you do decide to try NOS just be careful and make sure you get plenty of extra fuel in there along with the stuff.

Hi Charlie
Thanks for the comments, the NOS system I am looking at is a wet system thus delivers extra fuel so the engine won't run lean. I am also looking at a progressive controller so I get a smooth delivery of NOS and fuel at a given review range in each gear with also reduces the stress on the engine and the amount of NOS used.. I think.

The water/methanol system I installed uses the signal from the MAF sensor as an input and varies the pump duty cycle. It progressively increases based on engine load and it a little more elegant than the all or nothing type systems. Sounds like the NOS setup you are looking at is something similar.

If you do go for it, don't forget the write up with lots of pictures. You'll be (in)famous.

Yeah, I think this is pretty much a no-brainer upgrade from the sounds of it. Something like 20% improvement in flow? I paid $117 shipped for the Bosch 010 part. I haven't had it installed yet, but it's going in when I get the LSD installed.
