Good luck Dave. Hopefully, it will be something as easy as "jiggling" the Gear Shift knob and trying to start the car in Neutral. That intermittently faulty sensor has acted up about once a year for me.

Jiggle never worked for me. I had an had internal corrosion on the positive cable. But mine usually happened only when the car was hot. But with the temps this summer just sitting out side on pavement and being a black jag could have gotten it hot enough to cause this fault.

Just a thought from my end.

Well, turns out that the battery had an internal short. Yep, two of the internal battery plates shorted out...wow...who would have ever thought up that????

Car is back and driveable, though the shop noticed that my back up lights and my side marker lights aren't working. He thought that it might just be bad bulbs, but they were working two months ago when I had my state inspection done. Hmmm...anyone know if they're controlled by the same fuse??

Thanks

Dave

Glad to hear it turned out so well. Thanks for keeping us up dated and informed. So many of of our problem children are never heard from again.

No, unfortunately they are separate fuses in the trunk. They are fuse #1 (Reversing) and #21 (Sidemarker/Tail) . The fuse/relay box in question is right next to the battery so perhaps something was "nudged" when they installed the new battery.

Or, more worrisome, perhaps the BPM suffered an issue from the low voltage? Fortunately I have had a lot of self inflicted voltage issues but never experienced a long term failure of any modules (knock on wood) Have you checked again?

I have always read in these forums that once the car starts acting "weird", it can usually be associated with a low voltage battery. These babies are sensitive I guess.

I'll take a look-see at the fuse box in the trunk. That sounds reasonable.

Dumb question...what's the BPM?

..If you replace them with new do they only last a little while before blowing?

Do you have the extra ground on the tail lights yet? This is a fix for blowing bulbs if you do not have that second ground!
