Default Now that was scary

I just had a hot weekend on the twisties, way cool, and today put new pads and rotors on front, and replaced brake fluid. While jacking the right rear I noticed the tire moved SIGNIFICANTLY. Being not familiar with the set up, my first reaction was OH NO, big fix coming up. However, with further probing, it was just the nut loose. So that is where the clunking noise was coming from. However, I am not able to find the torque specs for the rear "axle" hub nut on my 2003 xk8, any ideas out there? Thanks in advance.

JTIS shows the rear "hub nut" to be torqued at 304 - 336 Nm, one of the highest torques on the car. I remember reading about the long spanners (4 feet or so) that the Jag guys use to torque down to that number.

You might consider having a shop get it done right.

That's right...about 245-250 foot-pounds. Yours may be loose because someone didn't take the trouble to get it properly torqued in the past. My recommendation would be to take it to a shop, and have them check and torque all four corners.
