O2 sensor 2003 xk-8
I have a 2003 xk8 and I have been having some issues with the o2 sensors, "System not ready code" and now a check engine light. I bought a reader that plugs into the module and it showed a code for both sensors as being slow reacting of a sort. It has been awhile and I forgot the codes and quite frankly, in NJ, it has been to darn cold to go out and work on the car. What I find strange is that both would "Go" at the same time. It is my belief that the codes were for slow response of the O2 units. I have not seen a mileage degradation or performance issue as of yet.
1. What other part could be giving the issues?
2. Is there a Ford part number for the O2 sensor and would that work since this is a Ford engine? Would it be less expensive?
3. Where are they the O2 sensors located?
4. Am I better off buying new ones and install to troubleshoot by parts replace?
5. would this also be the issue for "System not ready?" (got this before the check engine light came on....everyone said to keep driving and it will reset.....2000 miles later it has not. __________________

Joe,
You really need to post the actual codes for accurate responses.
I'll leave it to US members to suggest the best sources for replacement sensors but can show you where they are (arrowed in red with detail in the box):
Although you will eventually get to system ready just by driving, it can take a very long time. The most efficient and quickest way is to do 'drive cycles'
X100 - 2003MY - Drive Cycles.pdf
If P1000 is flagged after DTCs have been cleared, all engine management OBD diagnostic monitor drive cycles HAVE NOT BEEN COMPLETED.
If P1111 is flagged after DTCs have been cleared, all engine management OBD diagnostic monitor drive cycles HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.

02 sensors
They are a p0133 and a P0153 codes showing sluggish response. Updated info here; I had it at Willow Grove Jag in PA today, they did me a favor in waving the diagnostic and the tech feels that the issue may be an air leak in the airflow duct that goes from the mass flow sensor to the throttle body. I replaced it with a rubber sleve and clamps after the OEM part had hols in it. I ordered a new duct and will install that to see if that does the trick.

Agree with the above, it's both banks so for 2 o2 sensors to fail identical is slight and probably a common problem. Might try cleaning the maf and TB as well, with the treatment above you'll get the fuel presentation system cleaned up and the proper flow (with new duct as well) with good combustion with new plugs.

Plus and such
I have had the care now for about 3 years....63K miles on it and have not changed the plugs. Bought it with 54 K on the clock.
The tech was saying that with the acceleration and the slight leak fresh air is entering the TB thus making it appear more O2 is actually there than when the other sensors get it.
Right now will look for plugs and the BG44K cleaner from the local autoparts. any plug recomendations or just ask what they have and take what I get?

Saga continues
As per suggestions, I replaced the plugs, cleaned the MAS and sprayed some TB cleaner in the TB. Since the codes were erase and reset at the dealer, tough to see what is going on, per se. With my reader, right now it shows some of the tests such as EGR, O2 and 1 other test as either incomplete or as a failure; all of which deal with the P1000 issue. My belief at this point since no other O2 codes (P0133) the tests for these items have not been completed. I just have to drive the car a bit and see what happens.
My gut feel is I am still at square one, we shall see......
