OBD2 Reader .... success.....
Ok guys I started a new thread on this simply because its a kind of conclusion and offers useful info for others who may be looking for something similar.
I plumped for the Kiwi Wi-Fi 2 with DashCommand software. I cannot emphasise enough how easily and simply these two items mated with each other and more importantly my car. I was up and running literally inside of five minutes. If anyone here has iPhone, iPad, iPod and is looking for something like this, I wouldnt hesitate. Obviously I cannot say if it works with other cars.
This is not the cheapest solution I know and steveinfrance will probably have a hit squad out on me for not going the cheap route. People should note that this is the Wi-Fi model of the Ki-Wi and not the bluetooth one which I did read somewhere, maybe on this forum, was a problem and didnt work very well, or even at all.
Now having said all of that - I do have to admit that I had no codes to read, or possible re-sets to action so a further report will follow this once I have actually had to 'use' the setup. From the initial connection and setup and from looking through the various functions of DashCommand, guages and functionality looks pretty impressive on the iPad. If I was to comment at all, maybe.... DashCommand could be fine tuned for the iPad's hi res screen - other than than... the proof will be in the pudding.
I'm sure my thoughts here will not agree with everyone - but its cool to debate.
