Default OBDII PIDs for Torque

I came across this recent post in the Torque software forum, it seems to be refering to a source for manufacturer PIDS. The correspondent was asking Ian for information on how to access PIDS through something called the Telnet Server. There's not much here, but maybe someone here will recognize the reference and be able to look into it:

"The telnet server is not for the faint hearted, it is really only for people familiar with the OBD2 protocol and know what things like ‘vi’ are. You need to be connected to WiFi to be able to connect to it."

mafioso is also going to be working on recording the jaguar PIDs for all his car's functions (2003 stype=r), including the advanced stuff, but don't know how long that will take. I just started playing with Torque, and am going to create my first 'custom' input using the PID information...we'll see how it goes.

I hope its the one for transmission temp!

I've used my Torque setup on several cars recently - works flawlessly.

Torque returns xmsn temp (method 2, I think) on my X300...but it appears to be eng oil temp on a 1 sec. delay. Method 1 gets zip.

What PID are you using? I'm running the latest version of Torque, but it doesn't give me any transmission info.

awe..Rev..you're over my head! I'm just using the std. $4.95 Torque....as far as I know. I just noticed the offerings in stuff you could display a Transmission Temp Method 1 and Method 2 so I called 'em up. My XJ6 reports numbers on Method 2 but not 1. I have them in medium digital displays on the same screen as Engine Oil Temp and have noticed it mimics eng. oil temp on about a 1 sec. delay.

FWIW, neither S-type reports numbers on Method 1 or 2. Could be your's is too new?

Been interested for you to flush the PID out, though, as I doubt my xmsn oil follows my eng oil temp exactly by a second or two....

I'll see if Mafioso can get me the PID for the transmission temp first, but I was going to start off small - setup a custom fuel trim, as the basic one has a range of 0-100% and its hard to see the data fluctuation if it stays between 0-10...thinking of a range of 0-20 since anything outside that is set by a CEL anyway with a couple consecutive runs.

Hello Matt, et. al.,

Has there been any movement on XK8 PIDs for Torque? I've got it running, and it's a great app for the sensors it can translate...but there are SO many sensors not being read.

I'd like to at least get to oil temp/pressure, trans temp, fuel pressures, etc.

Have you come across anything, or have you been able to set up anything on your end?

Thanks in advance.

I do not believe the '97 has either oil temp. or fuel pressure sensors in the car. 2003 and later have fuel pressure.

I haven't had any luck, and I tried a few different things. There is another member that has PID access via a very expensive computer program, and I need to follow up with him to see if he can grab our specific sensor list. I wish there was some way I could see what my Autoengenuity sees...that would make it really easy...too easy.

Thanks Matt and WhiteXKR;

Please keep us updated. My 97 may not have all the sensors I want, but I certainly do want to be able to read the sensors I do have.

Autoenginuity is a good solution, I suppose, for work in the garage, but I love the Torque app for its portability and easy monitoring while driving.

Transmission fluid temp would also be very helpful!

Old thread, but ...

There is

Hookup a cheap ELM 327 based OBD cable to a "Y" cable. Put it into passive listen mode. Dump resulting traffic to a file, preferably with timestamps.

Run AE and record times of your actions. (Hence, the dumping with timestamps).

You now have a dump of everything AE transmitted and received, matched by timestamp to your ELM traffic dump.

The exception may be anything that uses the "manufacturer option" pins.

Working with the dump, you can also match the index numbers with the strings in the AE data files if they are not encrypted.

The "Y" cables are under $20 online.

Now, if you were to do this with the new J2534 based system, you could see everything that a factory tool sees as long as you can put the J2534 driver into debug dump mode.

I admit, I read your post more than a few times, and the only thing I understood was the 'Y' cable...seriously, the rest I have very little understanding. I know each sensor will reveal itself under a unique PID, but getting them is where I throw my arms up. I don't understand the communications between the cars and scanners...you want a shot at it? I'm trying to get my AE back from being on-loan this week.
