Oil cap won’t come off

Oil cap won’t come off
Hello to all!
i went to add some oil to my 1997 XK8 and found that, although the cap turns and makes the ratcheting noises, it’s not coming off.
Any recommendations?

Push in or press down on it while turning, like you would do with child safety caps on medicine bottles.
