Default Oil leaking while car sat.

Hey everyone, hope you had a good labor day weekend! I let the XK8 sit for 5 days without running it and came home to a nice little pond of oil. I didn't see anything jump out at me when I took the plastic covers off. What are your thoughts on where it is coming from?

She was just expressing her disappointment with being left alone.

Plastic covers? In public?

That looks like a number of separate 'ponds' - maybe six - rather than all from the same five day parking?

The only leak you can generally spot looking from the top of the engine is from the camshaft seals. You're going to have to get underneath to find the source of this one.

Agreed. Start with the oil pan drain plug, then the oil filter, then the oil pan bolts. Make sure all are tight. Take plenty of white paper towels underneath the car with you so you can wipe down the various areas looking for the source of the leak....

hi, if after checking all of the above. look foir a cracked valve cover i have a 99 and it sits all winter. this year i had the oil leak issue as you mentioned and thats what it ended up being. youll need a long dental type mirror to really get down close to inspect the covers fyi mine leaked on driver side over steering rack oil line connections but was easy to see with mirror and flash lite good luck
