question where is oil pump located 1999 jaguar xj8?

Front of the crankshaft behind the front timing cover. It is driven directly from the crankshaft.

oil pump upgrade

can the newer improved oil system from the 4.2 be retrofitted to the 4.0?

specifically the oil pump and pickup system? they are supposedly improved any way.
