its 2022, & i have a p0197 on my jag xkr. im thinking its a faulty EOTS, but im looking up eot sensors, & all im finding is eot switches. are these the same? can anyone direct me to a site which sells these? im in the usa so it would have to be international shipping capable.
TY, @michaelh
so i see im looking for a coolant sensor! how confusing. ;-) will these do?
i ll ask, but i need an inspection this month, & so im tempted to just go for it. especially with the prices shown below
as an aside ure batting 100, with your prior advice on driver mirror working out so well! TYVM.
...so i see im looking for a coolant sensor! how confusing. ;-)
LRA1600AA (the original part #) has always been the oil temperature sensor (it is the same for my car), and it has an M18 thread.
However, Jaguar Heritage's description for that original part # is, confusingly, 'coolant temperature sensor', although subsequently amended to just 'temperature sensor' on all the superseding part numbers.
You will see on the JEPC snip that the description is 'temperature sensor ... oil and coolant'.
There seems to be a general shortage of these things for some reason as even Heritage is showing 'out of stock' and 'This part is not available to purchase online. Please contact us for more information' for the latest incarnation XR858700
...which is bizarre since the outlet pipe for the Non-SC motor is showing available on Heritage for ~$60 (and hence available from the dealership) - and it comes complete with the same sensor. Go figure...
edit: The two items you've linked look to be M12 thread and not M18 - which is just the coolant temp sensor on the XKR. As far as I can see, the oil and coolant temp sensors have different thread sizes - so physically different - as they did on the early XK8s.

@michaelh so coolant sensor may or may not be the correct one depending on whether it has m18 or m12 thread! great spot, & TY! & sensor may be called switch!! @Pistnbroke u inspired me, ebay uk isnt my thing as im usa, but i found this on amazon.com
^^ What he said.
Comparing the thread diameter to the nut, it's not the 12mm variety, so I imagine it would fit.
Whether the electrical characteristics properly match OE is anyone's guess. It may be that Jaguar sources them from the same supplier and just whacks on a v. large margin - who knows? It's a gamble.
Given the silly money Jaguar is asking I'd also be looking at second-hand:- they don't seem to fail very often.
It's also fitted in the X308 saloon so there are more to choose from. Alternatively, perhaps a Ford outlet could supply - it appears that 7158126 is the same part.
Do check the one you have for a short before you seek its replacement, just in case it's a wiring fault.
@dibbit ure right i shouldnt rely upon chinese knock off, but my situation is that here in usa difficult to find auto repairs running normally still less one willing to deal with a jag, & i need to have an official yearly inspection like yesterday! so id like them to check wiring first but at same time have this as back up. for $10 worth the gamble, but id be willing to pay for the original, if i could find now.
@michaelh ill certainly ask if they can source the ford spare, vg idea, though i dont seem to see any online, just the same grouping of originals available from ali china!!
I just went thru this trying to replace the CTS...
The one you want looks like this....first photo.
The one you DONT want looks like the second photo.
They will allllllllllll be called coolant temp sensors.
A crazy maker.
The plug receiver will be different as well. The coolant temp sensor tabs are offset on the horizontal and the ones for the oil temp sensor will be evenly placed on the horizontal.
Even if you search with part numbers you just may get the wrong thing. Also,,, look for Denso brand parts. Larger threaded section...
TY @JayJagJay i tried to find denso just now couldnt.
i think the 2 pics difference is the thread point that @michaelh mentioned, pics are v helpful.
the knockoff i got first looks like that. the second n ebay also has the wider thread, but the pointy bit at end is a cone rather than a cylinder. im thinking that its the sensor part so the shape there is immaterial.
ill keep looking, by the end ill probably be able to open a shop of cheap priced worthless bits ;-)
TY @Pistnbroke so i may have blundered into buying right!
ill update once i get the other part off ebay, check wiring, then see if these work, & if i get inspection certificate!!
TY
Its down to the connector on the end ..if it has offset plug guides its ok and 1600 AA is correct.
The Amazon one is a respected brand.
The problem with respected brands is they get knocked off and sold on places like Amazon and ebay. That Amazon listing says its the Facet store, but it only has two ratings. It might well be genuine, but unfortunately its impossible to tell. Its always better to buy from a respected retailer who has a reputation to protect.

^^^^^^^^ this !
Some time ago I bought a connector plate (via eBay for the Mercedes made transmission (722.6). It was advertised as being a genuine Mercedes manufactured part.
Instead of receiving a Mercedes manufactured part, I got a Chinese knock-off, complete with a cast in Mercede logo.
Since the installation I get sporadic & numerous “transmission too hot” messages, even though the transmission temperature is completely normal, (trans temp sensor is embedded in the plate).
The genuine Mercedes part shows no longer available, but I’m still looking…
Buying original manufactures parts for these cars may seem expensive as first, but over time they have been shown to be a bargain.
i hear you both, but i have limited options here in the usa, & i can always proceed up the scale. i received the amazon one btw, & if its fake its pretty darn good. it has a no. etched on the sensor, matching the bar code on the box. theyve gone to a lot of trouble for a stupid sensor!i have the ford one with the cone shape coming soon, but of course the one from the uk came a lot faster than the one right here in New Jersey!!
