I think you'll be good...
Now,,, getting it in.

If you jack up the front of the car, jack stands then, git up under there, and swap her in...

I know some have different opinions BUT,,, I place my jack right in the center RH of the front subframe (wiggle the jack pad around the X brace under there), then the stands at the points behind the front wheels, or sometimes on the front lower control arm connection points. Drop the jack just a little so everything shares the load,,, try giving the car a wiggle to make sure, then under. Sometimes a front wheel under the car, just because...

I don't like getting under cars anymore. I figure with four cars (that are always asking me for a visit to there undersides) my chances of getting squished are increased exponentially.

Set up for UNDER CAR today is the most IMPORTANT part O the job. Just say'n... Safety first!

Good stuff and good luck!

Changed the Alternator today and no sign of an oil temp sensor just the oil pressure switch on the 1997 XK8.
So that's why no temp reading on the Scangauge

yes, someone posted that the AJ-26 series engines didn’t have them but the AJ- 27’s did.

Whoever did was correct, it seems. JEPC shows its part # from day 1, but it doesn't make an appearance in the EG until 1999 - and then only for the N/A cars.

I should have cross-checked

If you look again at the page from the training manual about the oil temperature posted earlier in the thread, the top of the page says AJ26/AJ27, but the cut out image showing the pressure sensor says AJ27. Not designed to confuse at all
