So I am still looking for a weekend ragtop and came across this:

Any thoughts?
When I see the engine was replaced I am skeptical, wondering what happened to require that, but maybe that is a good thing? Timing tensioners is the big issue for sure, but what about the mileage... too high?
What else should I ask about and what is a fair price?

What about this one?

Transmission rebuilt at 95k miles, timing tensioners done, regularly maintained, I think he is the only owner... It was a daily driver for awhile, now he has 2 small kids and a minivan ! (LOL! Poor fella'!)
What would be a reasonable price to offer? I was in the $6500 range a few weeks ago but I could go as high as $8 or $85 if the car is worth it...
Speculating...

I'll throw in my two cents worth. If you can, I would save my money a little longer and try to find a 2003 or newer. I was like you, I didn't want to spend a fortune for a new toy. I finally found a '03 XKR for 14,500. I would think you should be able to find an XK8 for 2 or 3 thousand less. Yes, they will still have issues but the major problems seem to have been solved by '03. I love mine. Hope you find one to love also. Good luck.

I get to look at loads of XKs on a daily basis and one thing I have noticed more than anything and that is if the the hood line does not meet tightly up to the front bumper you can almost guarantee it has been in a front end smack at some point, picture 4 shows this pretty well.
$11K also sounds a bit rich to me, if it was an R that would be different.
Good luck
