Ordered pressure reducing valve this afternoon
I ordered the valve. I bought the car (2006 MY) about two months ago. Maintenance records show the previous owner had the "green shower" and had it fixed by the dealer July 2010. Four years of use. Consistent with everything I have read.
So I have nearly new stuff and I do not want to go through this.
My biggest concern is that although I am not a total mechanical doofus, I am probably in the 50% percentile of mechanical ability and experience. Maybe a little lower. I discussed the issue with a great friend of mine over lunch today. He is a mechanical genius as far as I am concerned. Can fix anything. He said he would help me. I am concerned mostly about either ruining the electrical fittings or twisting and ruining the hydraulic fluid lines. I believe somebody posted that they bought their car after the owner ruined the electrical wires trying to get them apart and didn't want to shell out the couple of grand to fix it.
It is hard to believe Jaguar let this situation go on for the entire run of the car. Unbelievable.

Just take your time and follow the instructions closely and you should be fine. It really isn't too difficult. It is nice to have an extra set of hands though. If you have any questions, just ask.
It's easy enough. Just take your time. If you read the threads here about the process you'll be perfectly prepared. The pump connections are more durable than you'd expect, the electrical ones are a snap to remove/replace.
Jack,
Take your time and when you remove the tank be sure not to twist or pinch the lines. You will be fine! You can use my instructions or Walt’s, either way it will work. If you need to talk about it send me a PM and I will give you a way to contact me.

Just copy Gus's instructions, It's a easy fix. I laid the directions out and followed step by step took about 30 minutes, I did it right after replacing the new hoses.
Good Luck

Jack--
Just chiming in here to calm your nerves. Installing the pressure reducing valve is super-easy. You'll need to purchase only one new tool (cheap and available at AutoZone, right off the shelf). This is the first thing I did last June when I bought my 2000 XK8 convertible. Now I can sleep nights not having to worry about the "green shower."
Go slow, and Good Luck!
