I ride motorcycles too (see sig) and I don't get seen at all quite often. Driver's just don't pay attention.

My GSXR1100 is known as the death bike since 2 of it's owners have died on motorcycles. The previous owner bought it from his brother, who upgraded to a Hayabusa. His brother, an experienced mid 40s rider, was riding on a country road with one of his friends at the speed limit (its not a nice road to speed on, its awful). A guy in a pickup truck who felt trimming his hedges at the road was optional, he pulled past into the road a bit to see and ran the two riders off the road. The other guy on a ZX12 ninja hit a tree and severed his leg off, and died fairly soon. The guy who owned my bike hit a tree and died instantly. This was in the middle of the day, riding a purple suzuki and a bright green kawasaki. People just don't pay attention.

At least in a low car you're in a cage. But people in general often aren't putting driving the car as their main task when they're behind the wheel. Whether it's cell phones, radios, ogling people, whatever; they just aren't alert. The scary part in a low car is redneck road princess trucks; big lift kit yet tiny road tires and big rims (so the lift combined with rims means its tall yet cant drive off road at all). They can run over you rather than just run in and stop.

So true. I ride as well, and taught MSF for a few years too. Yeh - it can be scary/deadly out there.

But, c'mon 80s, .... ya gots to cut us some slack on the "ogling" thing. We just need to compensate "better".

;-)

TOO LOW!?!?! I SAY NOT LOW ENOUGH!!!

My first car was a 1960 Triumph TR3, that thing was so friggen awesome! My butt was about 8 inches off the pavement, you could drop your arm out the door and drag your fingernails I swear! If I could find a way to sit lower in my XK8 I would! (not by reclining back more so don't start, hahahaha) I'm envious of corvettes for the simple fact they appear to sit lower than we do! A Lotus Europa would be amazing, I see a few around where I live sitting besides sheds and I'd LOVE to have one (yes, I've asked...not for sale) I want to sit so dang low that I can pass a Semi....by driving under it. I want a fully street legal go-cart to drive to work at 70 mph!

Sister says our cars are too low....NOT LOW ENOUGH!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Have you considered a Morgan ? The one which I owned 50 years ago was considered by many as a street legal go-kart.
