Been some time since I have had any issue with my Cat,
couple off weeks ago went on a local drive ,about 30mls , car was low on Gas under a 1/4 tank, I know shouldn't have got that low, on way to pump went into restricted mode and thru P0121.I cleared the code got gas and went on my merry way.
This weekend embarked on a 150ml trip ,stopped about 30 mls out to meet up with another friend. Car sat for about 30 minutes before we pulled out, a few miles down the road she went restricted mode I pulled over checked and cleared same code .she ran ok for the rest off the trip. I had the same code again once on the way back after car had sat for 40 minutes while we had lunch.
I had previously read up on this forum and cleaned connections to throttle body and connector on Left ,drivers side, has Gold pins, so it was updated? Problem seems random? or is something happening when car sits hot. I run with a monitor hooked up at all times to see temps and other info but nothing else looks suspicious.
Thoughts anyone? TB on its way out?

 

All the time - even when parked? The diagnostic port has is permanently 'live'. If your battery is getting marginal, this could be why you're getting codes after the vehicle has been sitting.

When the TPS started to give trouble on my 2001, it rapidly went from RP with code P0121 which could be cleared to complete failure in a couple of weeks.

Thanks Graham I will get the Battery checked and yes I may have occasionally left it plugged in when out and about but never in the Garage, I always unplugged it and set alarm

As a follow up I had the battery tested ,readout says good but charge says only 36%, so I will leave it on a charger overnight and try to have it tested again later this week
