P0442 code will not clear
I have a check engine light with the code P0442 small leak in EVAP system. I've installed a new canister close valve, vapor pipe assembly and canister purge valve. The P0442 code will not clear with my scan tool. I hit the erase function and the code comes right back without the engine going through a start cycle. The check engine light has gone out once while driving and come back on in a few minutes. Anyone have any ideas of what the root cause could be? Electrical connection? Thanks, Tony
I had the same fault code on my 2000 XKR. But you should be able to clear the code, and it should not come back on the first trip. Neither should it come back if you have a full tank of gas.
Have you tried a different scan tool?
On my car it was the o-rings on the canister pipes that needed replacement.
