Default P0455 code on 2001 XK8

Check eng. light on, stored code is P0455. Checked the carbon canisters in the back, all hoses are in good shape everything seems to be normal. The only thing I found was a hose was laying on top of the left carbon canister. The hose is open on one end, plugged on the other. It has a plastic fitting that went to the fuel tank area. Could that cause a problem? I also get a check fuel cap message. I changed caps, no help.

For what it's worth, I had the same thing. Car ran fine and sometimes go hundreds of miles with no CEL after being reset. I changed the purge valve, gas cap, and a vent line coming from the cam cover, and checked all other hoses.
Went to gas the car up and would only take a couple cents worth and then back up in the filler. Turned out the canister close valve was stuck closed, I took it apart and was corroded and sticking. Put a new one in and the fueling problem went away and the P0455 code went away and the light stays out. Evap system checks good, now if I could get the P1000 code to go away I could finally get the car inspected and registered

After resetting the MIL, the system needs to go to readiness mode. Here is a link to another thread on the subject:

My evap system is now ok, maybe because I answer yes, when prompted "do you want to erase stored codes"

Finally got around to work on the Jaguar. Took both canisters ,all hoses and the canister close valve out of the car for a close inspection. Everything looked good so I put it all back in and erased the P0455 code. Check engine light stayed out for two days, but now its back on. Not sure what to do next. Should I replace the canister control valve? Gas cap was switched no help.
