P0456 is the code for a very slight leak in the fuel evap system. This code will set the check-engine light, but on some cars if the leak condition is not detected again for some number of drive cycles the check-engine light is turned off.

Does anyone know whether the 2003 XK8 behaves this way, or whether clearing the code with a scanner is required?
