Question Parrot i9200 in 2001 XK8?

Has anyone ever installed a Parrot i9200 bluetooth unit in a XK8?

Not sure if this is much help but I've had a Parrot i9000 installed into a 1999 XK8 and I assume the basics are much the same. I had to get a specialist installer to do it so don't know the technical requirements, but can at least confirm it's possible.

I use it with my iPhone and have a Brodit cradle which the charging lead connects to and I can just drop the phone into. The Parrot remote unit controls the volume, track changing etc and it automatically mutes/pauses the music when you get a call.

The remote mike for the handsfree was installed by the top of the rear view mirror and it all works through the factory stereo, without having to switch the stereo on, so the aerial stays down. Volume etc is only controlled by the Parrot remote and not the dial on the stereo or steering wheel controls.

All in all it's quite a neat unit/install and seems to work pretty well.

I would imagine if you're reasonably competent in this area that you could fit it yourself and save an expensive specalist install, but if I recall you do need some kind of additional adaptor for it to work with the Jag stereo.

I'd have kept it. I have one installed in mine. It was professionally installed and I had the display put near the door, rather than the centre of the dash, so it's till visible but doesn't spoil the look of the dash. I have the contols on the steering column above the ignition.

One mod I did was rather than run the system from the Parrot's own amp was to take the line out and splice it into the CD input for much better sound quality. (They should have ffered that facility as standard).

Works fantastic. Heartily recommended. Why did you return it?

I returned it because I went to two of Parrots authorized installers that told me that the harness needed to install it into my car was not available. I also called Parrot's tech support and was told by them that the harness was not available. Where did you have it installed?

Installation is pretty easy, but you have to cut into the wiring, but basics are the same

If you look at my write-up, you do not need to cut into the vehicle wiring with this procedure.

Depending on premium or non premium.
Anyway, i did not look into the details, but I added a 5 channel aftermarket amp, JBL GTO-5535 myself and that was pretty easy. So same for the parrot I recon

Is it possible to install a Parrot MKi9100/9200 together with a rear view camera into the NAV screen? The Jag is a 2005 XK8 with the Alpine audio.

What do you mean together? Adding a Navtools unit should get you a rear camera on the built in display. That would be separate from the parrot though. They should be able to live together.

I hope to start by running a rear view camera through the Nav screen activated when in reverse gear. I understand that I will need a suitable camera and one of these https://www.carconverters.com.au/pro...erter/233.html. The next project would be to install A Parrot MKi9100/9200 for the phone. To use the existing buttons on the steering wheel, I am told I need a UNIKA. From what you say, these projects won't interfere with each other.

As two discrete projects, you should be fine.

I would probably look at:

I don't have a similar setup. I put in a JVC head unit and used the PAC SWI-RC for control. You need a unit that matches both Jaguar x100 and your system (JVC for me, Psrrott for you).

Just a quick question. Where is there a hole to feed the video cable from the trunk to the cabin? ----2005 XK8 convertible.

Follow the hydraulic hoses for the convertible roof from the pump on the right hand side of the boot (you might have to remove the trim to find them). These hoses pass through to the cabin and you can run the cable along side them.

On mine I removed the rear seat, ran the video cable under the seat and along the side of the transmission tunnel up to the dashboard. All pretty straightforward.

Here is a photo of the CD changer/pump showing the hydraulic hoses running off to the left. (To get the reverse lamp feed I connected a wire up to the light cluster on the right.)

Default Cable for Parrot Mki 9000 series?

Some time ago there appeared to be a custom cable available to adapt a Parrot MKi 9000 series to work in the 2000-06 Jag XK8/XKR. I have the download from JagWrangler but is there a source for the cable?
