Default Phone mic problem

Hi all

I just purchased a 2006 XK8 convertible. I am having a problem with the Bluetooth phone system. I have paired my Samsung S3, the phonebook transferred to the car, I can place and receive calls, and the speakers work fine. However, the mic appears to not be working. I haven't found anything in the available manuals about a mute button, and I have tried all the buttons and combinations, and there is no "Mute" indication on the car display, so I don't believe that is the problem, but that is how it is acting. It is possible that the mic itself or a wire is broken. Any suggestions?

Once setup correctly, I found the Bluetooth in my 2005 XK8 Coupe was very reliable. The only drawback being that only one phone at a time can be paired with the XK8/XKR.

If you can make/receive a call and hear the caller but they can't hear you at all, then it is likely to be the microphone at fault.

Alternatively, if it's a volume issue, the phone volume can be adjusted during a call
with the audio panel volume control or the steering wheel switches. The volume will be memorised for future calls (this will not alter other audio volume settings).

To adjust: during a phone call, press MODE on the audio panel repeatedly until FADE is displayed. Using the volume control knob or the steering wheel button, set the fade volume to your personal preference.

The Bluetooth microphone in our 2005 S-Type failed during the factory warranty period. A new mic fixed the issue. They are cheaply made. I won't be surprised if your mic failed as well....

Thanks for the replies. I will see if I can get the mic replaced by the seller (Carmax); I have a 30-day period where they claim they will fix anything wrong with the car.

GGG, the phone volume on my car seems to be adjusted directly by the volume control; the Fade adjustment seems to adjust the balance between front and rear, as usual in audio applications.
