Smile Picked up an XKR on Ebay for $3.99 - just needed a repaint!!

For fun, I picked up a bright red & beige Maisto die-cast on Ebay for the princely sum of $3.99....

Took it to pieces and completely repainted it to more closely match my 2003 XKR and added a few minor details. It's not perfect, but will sit on the credenza in my office over the winter, and remind me of the summer months to come!

I don't feel so strange now! I actually have three of these, a '72 XKE, an '02 XKR (a miniature version of my baby, also Quartz in color), and an X150 style XKR. I would love to fill out my full size harem with the big sisters of the XKE and X150 to keep my X100 company!

At first I thought you bought a real one for a second.i miss building model cars.looks good I like.

Neat. I bet taking it apart was more difficult than working on the real thing.

Did you use Aerosol or air brush?

You're correct - taking it to pieces was initially a challenge; perhaps I should do post a video Rev Sam style!)

I used an aerosol (had to get the paint specially mixed - couldn't find Quartz available 'off the shelf' anywhere). I got some extra in case the real car ever needs a touch up...

I've made models of several of the cars I've owned, though model aircraft are my normal subject....
