Piston Count Test
As an enthusiast forum, I thought I would mention that the real test of an enthusiast is to count the number of pistons you own and post it. The biggest number wins. I have seen some amazing numbers. I'll start:

My friends and I do a count, but it's motorcycles/ex-wife's/wife's. We like to have my friend Doug around when we do the count, he's 25/1/1. His piston count would be pretty high too. Mine is 7/1/1
Mine piston count is 38

Do air compressors count?
Jaguar XK8 8
Kia Borrego 8
Volvo 245 w/Ford 302 V8 8
Volvo Bertone Coupe 6
Mazda Miata 4
Honda Goldwing 6
String/blade trimmers 4

Golf Cart 1
Back Pack blower 1
Wheeled blower 1
Pressure washer 1
Generator 2
Air Compressors (?) 5
Piston driven nail guns (?) 6

Notice that there are not lawn mowers. Gave that up long ago. Round-up is your friend.
How about piston driven semi auto rifles? 2
Always heard that you should have as many pistons as your years of age. Still a little short.

I guess I'll start off with stuff that is for road/race use and running or at least complete, this could take a while....
XKR -8
Ford Ranger -4
Peugeot motorhome - 4
1929 Scott TT Replica - 2
1929 Scott TT Replica - 2 (seeing double!)
1928 Scott Works TT race bike - 2
1954 Ariel square 4 - 4
James cadet - 1
Triumph tiger cub - 1
BSA C15 - 1
1966 Honda RC162 replica - 4 (20,000rpm redline, open megas, glorious)
1997 Honda CBR250RR - 4
That is 37 for road legal running things
If we start counting working but non road stuff
lawnmover - 1
Weed wackers -2
chainsaw - 1
1/4 scale tiger cub RC - 1
1/4 scale Pitts Special RC - 1
Weston Groove RC - 1
3x RC trainers - 3 total
RC cars with IC engines - 2
Compressor - 4 (man sized compressor)
generator -2
So you can add another 18 to the 37 above giving 55
Then there are the kart race engines
CR250 Honda - 2
Comer - 3
Add another 5 to give 60
Then there are the other engines in various states of repair
at least 10 Scott engines, don't know exactly - 20 min. I do know I have one engine sat on every step leading up to the mezzanine in my workshop.
2x Ford Scorpion diesels - 16
Then we have the box of at least 60 or 70 Scott pistons, the box of 20 or so used CR250 pistons from the kart race engines, and another box of around 8 that I keep run in ready for use being they have a useful life of about 60 minutes, a box of weedwacker engines for conversion to aircraft and airboat use
So total is 60, plus another ~40 for engines in repair, then another 100 or so loose pistons I guess. Still never seem to have the size I need though!
The above has just made me realise I need to ebay some stuff, no wonder my workshop is crammed to the roof with stuff.
Cheers,
Rich
