Default JTIS necessary?

I recently bought the 1926 page shop manual for my 2004 XK8 from JagDocs as a pdf download. At under $10 I thought it was a steal! I see a lot of reference to the JTIS online. Does it supplement the shop manual? Or is the factory manual the more complete?
Between the manual and the host of well-written DIY posts here I'm having no qualms about tearing into my upper shock mounts tomorrow. Would the JTIS be of additional help? Not sure I want to wade through 26 pages of instructions to get it to work on my Win7 64 system tonight.

JTIS has been most helpful to me, and has allowed me to keep the jag on the road for the last 6 years without a visit to the dealer. Step by step instructions are fully comprehensive. I would have bailed on the car years ago without the JTIS. and a good OBD code reader is a must.

JTIS is the official shop manual. In addition to the usual install/removal kind of instructions it includes descriptions of how the systems work, diagnostic procedures and lots of useful information.

While not strictly necessary, it is very helpful, along with JEPC (electronic parts catalog).

The shock mounts are pretty strait forward, and I doubt you will get much more from JTIS than you already have.

Since Jaguar never produced a paper manual I suspect that your .pdf file is from JTIS.

Just for comparison, here are the instructions from JTIS for removing and disassembling the shock.

JTIS was the factory workshop manual for vehicles from 1995 until 2004MY when it was superseded by on online system.

It takes a little time to get used to the navigation but it does have comprehensive information and good links between sections. When it comes to installation issues, Jim Lombardi has done a fantastic job on documenting procedures.

The aftermarket PDF's such as the one you purchased are generally based on JTIS or later factory documentation and are the only low cost option for owners seeking that level of information on post 2004 models.

I don't think there is necessarily a 'best' information source for all eventualities. It depends on model, year and the particular task in hand. I have kept some printed manuals for pre-1995 and have JTIS, JEPC and a number of aftermarket PDF's for later models. More often than not, I'll find the required information in JTIS but the others all have their place.
