Default Plate lights and high mount brake lights out

Last evening I noticed that my rear number plate lights and boot lid mounted brake lights have stopped working. I tested the number plate bulbs and they are ok. Since both stopped working at once I assume that there is a failure in the wiring harness to the boot lid. I will track it down but , given the wealth of experience here, I am looking fro some common locations ( other than the obvious place where the wires flex going from the body to the boot lid )

Over the years most owners who experience this problem have indeed found the culprit to be in the area where the trunk wires flex. I would certainly start there....

Fixed: ground wire broken where the harness flexes. No doubt , it will eventually fail again, but not a huge problem

Yeah I had the same issue recently, spliced in the harness from a 30,000 mile parts car, but only after getting pulled over 3 or 4 times.
