Try disconnecting your battery for a minute then reconnect it. If that does not solve the problem, measure the voltage on the battery...if it is under 12.4 volts your battery is either not fully charged or needs to be replaced.

Starting the car with a dead battery from jumper cables may not be successful. The battery needs to be charged.

If the above suggestions all pan out check the fuel pumps are by listening for them from the boot. And fuel. Rail pressure.

Whether a jump will work or not depends a lot on the condition of the battery, the condition of the jumper cables and the length and wire gauge of the jumper cables.

You can download all the manuals for your vehicle as PDF's from here:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-2003-a-67827/

Fuse and relay details are in the Vehicle Care Handbook.

Be aware that there have been numerous reports of fuel pumps failing after winter storage.

Yes replace them both. It is penny wise and pound foolish not to.

Also check the wires in the tank for continuity before putting it all back together. It is common for them, or the black electrical noise filter (called the 'lead link') attached to the wires to fry when the pump fails.

You might also want to try removing the main fuel pump relay and try starting the car about 5 or 6 times. If the secondary fuel pump is still working, it will take over and actually allow the car to run in a reduced power mode. If this does not work, then your secondary fuel pump is also bad.

Both pumps are in the tank.

The XKR (up to 2002) has two identical pumps.

Did you check the voltage on the battery? I would rule out other possible causes before replacing the fuel pumps. In my experience a relay may close in on a lower voltage than it takes to drive electric motors (fuel pump). I would also check voltage across the fuel pump relay.

ok so what I have done so far, got battery checked and charged, battery is good no warning lights on information like I had before as to the acs and trac unavailable, crank but no start, i have spark, found out by my assistant turning over before I said bump it and got a good tingle up the arm so got spark, can feel relay for pumps come on and go off, so leads me to believe the pumps are bad. now a question I have is if there are 2 pumps in the tank why doesn't at least 1 pump work to make the car at least run? even if just barely. well I will be checking the rest of the fuses as soon as this rain ends not really fond of water and electrical things. thanks everybody for your input and suggestions it has gotten me farther than I would have ever gotten by myself, especially since I cant get a repair manual from the local auto shop

Please go back and reread post #11. I explain how to get the car to run on the secondary pump, assuming the secondary pump is good.

If this does not work your secondary pump is also bad. Many people never notice when the secondary pump fails. During normal operation the secondary pump only runs during high throttle (plus it primes when the car is started).

ok so I got a chance to go out and check all the suggestions with fuel pump fuses relays etc and came back with all fuses good relays good used jumper to jump relay and I have power to the tank. I also removed the primary relay to see if it would start still no luck so I guess its off to get the pumps today and start the job. I looked up a video of fuel pump replace and I think I should be able to achieve the job. is there anything I should replace while im in the tank that could be a problem later on?

Make sure you check the electrical continuity of the wires in the tank. Sometimes they visibly burn up, and sometime the black 1x1" device on the wires (which is an electrical noise filter) burns up internally when the pump fails.

Also consider replacing the fuel level sender whle you are in there. They are pretty fragile.
