Default Please help a peg-less brother out.

Hey guys-

I'm doing some interior work and I'll be replacing my floor mats. My car doesn't have any hooks or pegs for the floor mat grommets. The holes in the carpet / flooring are there...where the pegs would attach...but no pegs.

I'm unclear on a part number for the pegs, if there is one. Also unclear on how they install or attach. Anyone have any wisdom they can send my way?

Thanks very much-

The black plastic 'hooks' that hold the mats in place?

Two on each side. Part Number JLM 20428

Thanks Graham-

I wasn't able to find that in the Jag EPC parts software. Are you reasonably sure that part number applies to my prehistoric 1997?

Older cars have two per side and newer cars have only one per side. I'm not sure of the cutoff date (2001 or 2003 would be my guess, probably 2003) but I know your '97 would have two per side.

Default no posts on my 98?

I just bought some Loyd rubber mats for my 98, and was faced with question of did my mats have one hole for the grommet or 2? I went out and looked, and found my carpet (Drivers) had 2 holes, but no posts to hook up to. So I ordered the 2 hole, and I don't think mine even came with posts, at least that's what it looked like.

+1

My 2001 had 2 holes per side but my 2005 has one hole per side.

Best guess - changeover came with the 4.2.....

My 2001 only has one hole, one peg manufactured in August of 2000

The Lloyd mats I ordered for my wife's 2006 XK8 back in August fit so perfectly and so tightly that I believe these floor mat pegs are not even necessary with them. Her XK8 uses just one peg per side, but it really is not necessary with the Lloyd mats in place....

Her Victory Edition factory Jaguar mats (used in spring and summer) do not fit as tightly or cover as much area, so they need the floor mat pegs....

If you order a set of Lloyd mats, I don't believe you'll need any pegs to hold them in place....

I agree with not needing the pegs with the Lloyd mats, the fit is so good, you don't really need them. I'm really happy with the mats, they fit really well, they were recommended in this forum. And my carpets don't move at all, not having the pegs as well. We don't need no stinking pegs!

Thanks for the recommendation on Lloyds, but I'm not crazy about the idea of rubber mats. I don't drive my coupe in foul weather, so I don't need rubber and prefer the cleaner look of matching carpet.

Based on forum member GordoCatCar's recommendation, I'm taking a look at GGBailey for my carpeted floor mats. Just ordered a free swatch card yesterday so I can get a perfect color match.

My wife's XK8's Lloyd mats are carpet, not rubber. Far better carpet quality than the factory Jaguar mats as well. If I remember correctly, there are more than 100 carpet colors to choose from. Hers match the car's Cashmere interior better than the factory Jaguar mats do....

Check post #2 in this thread:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/i...acement-69749/

These mats look better quality then the OE mats in Victory and S models.

I eMailed the US manufacturer to inquire if they could produce a reversed set for my RHD XK8 but never got a reply.

Here is another option for floor mats: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ebay%5D-19408/

I would imagine they can do RHD since they cut their own. Dena was great responding and answering any questions I had and the product is quality, especially if you go with the plush ones (I may have to do that sometime, they weren't available when I ordered the first time)

EDIT: Whoops! Guess I should read the other thread, those mats are from AutoEtc also Surprising that they didn't offer to make you RHD versions.
