Power steering
Hi all,
This probably is a very basic question but what is the purpose or relationship between the conventional looking hydraulic power steering and it’s electrical connection, I presume to the computer.
Does the car’s computer change the valving or the assistance provided depending on speed?
Am I correct in thinking the steering hydraulics has it’s own oil cooler? If so what could possibly be happening within the system that requires a cooler when virtually no other car requires the same.
I am currently replacing a failed hydraulic pump. I can’t imagine what would cause a pump to fail. From my experience, long after cars and trucks are reduced to wrecks and sent to the compactor the power steering pump is probably the one item still in serviceable condition.
regards
Al
