Smile Preferred Shipper - any recommendations?

Please count me in!

Jag needs to be transported back to AZ from WNY at the end of Nov if anyone has a preferred shipper to recommend.
Thanks!
Dennis

Dennis,

Looks like you're rolling two posts into one here?

Please confirm if you want entry to the PRIZE DRAW for JagWranglers famous XK8 / XKR Convertible Remote Top Controller module and you also want advice on shippers.

If this is right, I'll add you to the Draw Participant list and change this post title to 'Preferred Shipper - any recommendations' so members will see your question.

Graham

Dennis,

Changed thread title here and also copied your entry to the FREE PRIZE draw.

Hope you get advice on a reliable shipper.

Try JS Transport, check with Jennifer Supczak, Jennifer@JSTransportService.com 508-461-6166
She arranged for next day delivery of my BMW from OH to NC. She is in OH area, so she may be able to help you with your WNY to AZ shipment.
Good luck,
C.J.

I've had great success with Cascade Auto Transport.
I'd recommend you contact Rebecca Ruppel 360.834.7898

Allow me to impart a little wisdom from what I've learned about this stuff over the years: don;t try to save $$.... your car will never get to you. (Well, eventually it probably will.... but you won;t know when)

That industry works on a virtual bulletin board. A load is listed by your broker, with an amount they will pay for it to be transported. Drivers will look for the loads they want (usually NOT listed on the boards, but negotiated direct) and then fill-in their dead-head time with another move. But if it pays too little, they won't take it. I wouldn't either.

My recommendation: get several referrals and use the price in the middle.

NOT D.A.S.! They have a weird insurance coverage plan that leaves you uncovered when you think you are ok. They damaged my ZR-1 shipping it from FL to Las Vegas, and I never got a dime out of them. But read your contract stips online for ANY carrier before you sign or ship. Also, if you use a broker -- and many people don't even know they are signing with a broker -- be sure you get all the dope on the real carrier. AND...be sure your money is actually going to get to the real carrier, and not go out the door of an unscrupulous broker.

Nice to hear about another ZR-1 owner. I had a 90 ZR-1 that I bought in 2001 (sold it in 2007). I bought it from KS, and drove there from NC to bring it back on a friends trailer.
I miss that car, by far, my favorite car out of the 40 or so that I have owned! I would like to get another one someday.

When I was preparing to move from FL I checked with people on the Z3 forum and several recommended Intercity. I didn't go that route as the moving company put my car in the van with my household goods.

I have also seen that Wayne Carinni of Classic Car Chaser on Velocity channel uses them among others. In fact, watching a couple of episodes will probably give you some other names that he uses.

Yeah, they really are amazing if you take care of them. I did the whole top end P&P, 4:10 gears, bigger SS exhaust, and a few other tricks. It ran great....especially at high speeds. Fortunately, for me living in Nevada it meant lots of open road high speed opportunities. But, like you, I finally let it go after having it "my way" for about 10 years. It was still a beast, but too much and too harsh for my aging body. I'd love a '95 with the wider seats if I were ever to do it again.
