My car came with Riken Raptor ZR and I replaced them when I wore out the rears and had a bad belt in one of the fronts. The second set was good and at a low price. I heard so many good things about Hankooks (and 2 of my 3 other vehicles run them and I like them) so I went with Ventus V12 evos and have been very happy. Reasonable Price with great traction, decent wear, and low noise. They seem to compete with tires at higher prices. They may be hard to find now (especially since the V12 evo2 is out) but the replacements could be even better.

 

I never had any issues with my Dunlop Spormaxx 'J' fitment tyres (on 20"), but went with various advice on replacement and bought some mid-budget priced ones. They were a nightmare to balance, and I hated the noise and lack of feeling through the wheel so much that i changed back to a new set of Dunlops after only 600 miles. Expensive mistake.

Tyres can be very subjective though........

I had Dunlops on my last XK8 and much preferred them over the Pirellis. I'm due a pair on the back of this one and they will be Dunlop sport max also.

Careful, there are a lot of people throwing around the name "Michelin Pilots". The "Pilot" is a range within the Michelin line and while I'd agree many are not well suited to our cars I can absolutely tell you the Pilot "Super Sport" tires are phenomenal.

I have logged over 160K miles on two different X100s and 50K on an X350, I've tried countless tires and finally came upon the Super Sports a couple of years ago. These have incredible grip (wet and dry), ride quality and wear. I've gone 34K miles on a set on my Super V8 and there still plenty of tread left. I've done 15K on the XKR and they've got a long way to go. I drive my cars quite hard, not on a track, but aggressively just the same. Yes these are very expensive but I would have gone through three sets of P-Zero Rossos by now. I've posted on this topic before mentioning that I have tried Yokohamas, Falkens, Dunlops, Michelin Pilot AS2s, Bridgestones...nothing compares.

I wonder if anyone of you has ever tried just putting 245/40/19 to the rear of our cars...that way we can rotate them? my rear tires are worn to the thread bar so time for new shoes.

Edited: Never mind...it was a stupid question...the wheels themselves are not rotateable duuh...please ignore :-)

Before you guy's buy any tire, its very important to check the date on the sidewall(don't buy old tires), check the material composition(silica compounds are what your after), and read reviews from other customers online, using tire rack etc.
BUY MULTIPLE TIRE GUAGES, the one you use can be off by A LOT !
I HAD A GUAGE READ 30 PSI, AND 3 OTHERS SAY 62PSI! Thats like riding on bricks lol
Also note the speed rating. The higher rated speed tires will tend to have a much more stronger and multi layered belt, resulting in you feeling all the bumps in the road, and sliding in the rain. Be careful there, if you don't speed over 100mph, don't get tires rated that high.

A touring tire is for touring comfort, a sports for sports. A rain tire for rain, a snow tire for winter lol. Keep the sizes factory, incorrect gear ratio or other issues may arise if you do not.

These are what I personally recommend,as they are very comfortable , silica-enhanced=sticky, smooth riding tires with excellent wear and RUN FLAT ! You need run flat, as no one usually have our UNIQUE tire size in stock,and towing or flat issues are a pain !
