Problem coding the keys
Hello All
When I bought my 2001 XK8 i received only 1 black key with 1 keyfob. I was supplementary given an uncutted/noncoded black and a green key which I wanted to cut and code here in Switzerland. The biggest Jaguar Dealer has problem to code.
They tried it with the 2 different systems (WDS and IDS) but they never received a confirmation signal from the car. The keys does not start the cars. They say that the programming does not work and have no idea. They assume it might be the security/lockingmodul in the trunk.
But the alarm system works as it should as far as I can see: LED blink-code on the gearshift surround after locking, One Sidemarker-blinking after locking and 2 after opening by key fob.
Does anybody has an idea what it might be?
It is a bad feeling having only one key for the car.
Thanks for your inputs - Daniel

Is it possible the keys you were given are for a different year and/or model of Jaguar?
As I understand it, some models use different transponder chips in the keys from others so they will not work and it is not just a matter of reprogramming the key unit. The flip keys (remote and key in one unit) from some Jaguars have to have chips in the unit replaced by a chip for an XK8. There is an article in the forum on doing this and it includes removing the chip from an XK8 key and replacing the chip that comes in the remote. I don't think that was done just to avoid the reprogramming issue but is because the chips are not compatible. Good luck!

The keys were correct according part number.
I don't know exactly how they program supplementary keys.
I was told that also the existing key need to be re-programmed toghether with the new ones.
They did not even get a return/confirmation-signanl for the existing key.
Their diagnose was: possibly faulty SLM (LJE2600AB)
But according them it is not possible to change a VCAT to my (015) specification when I give them a correct replacement SLM.
