Default 2002 XKR-100 Shock absorbers

While installing new shock mounts this morning I managed to break off the top of one of my shock absorbers ...The part number on the shock is MJB 2641 EB...I have been calling all the shock shops I can find and none knows anything about this part number. This shock has an electrical connection on the top, therefore, if I can find one to replace it, it will be over $700.00 apiece????? UNLESS it would be OK to replace both front shocks with the regular XK8 shock absorbers at $100.00 each.
Does anyone know if the dimensions are the same and if so, are there any other reasons not to do this. I would appreciate any advice.!!!

Have a look at this UK based company.....

Jaguar XK8 Front Shock Absorbers at www.rimmerbros.co.uk

It's worth dropping them an e-mail just to ask !!

Front: Bilstein, Innovation and High Quality Since 1873
Rear: Bilstein, Innovation and High Quality Since 1873

They can be found in the US for $500 each, give or take.

You can replace the adaptive (CATS) shocks with the non-adaptive ones. Outside of the electrical connector they are identical and it has been done by a few forum members.

But, you will get an error on the dash says something to the effect of "adaptive suspension fault". You can prevent this message by disconnecting the controller which will up the two remaining rear adaptive shocks into fail safe "firm" mode.

If you do change out the adaptive for regular shocks, it would be best to do all 4 corners but that still costs less than a single adaptive shock.

Don't replace xkr100 shocks with non air shocks. That suspension set up is more rare especially if you have a 100 coupe. My advice is don't change the air shocks out.

CATS is not an air shock system.

Many owners with adaptive damping (CATS) find them to be a real pain, and many replace them with the normal Bilstein units at 1/5 the price. You wouldn't be de-valuing your car, and you'll never notice the change in ride quality. My two cents.

+1. Don't mix the front and back systems.

Thanks for the responses!!! I was in a bind to get the car moved out. After several hours of searching on the telephone I found one in Ft. Lauderdale for $421.00 A company called APN (Auto Parts Network). I purchased it at 4:30 PM Monday and it arrived at my door at 11 AM Tuesday morning. The best service I have experienced in years!! It is an exact replacement.
Installed it with two new strut seats. Car ride as a new one now. But, the "Suspension Fault" light still glows brightly from the speedo ????
