Default 2002 XJSport with 2 Issues Any help appreciated

I just purchased a 02 XJSport and have the following issues and wonder where I need to start.

1) When applying brake when parked or in drive everytime I hear a click sound under the JGate

2)Actually just started today Headlights will not come on inn manual or auto Click hi beams nothing click driving/fog lights nothing however if I hold the lever for momentary hi beams the high beams come right on. Its pouring rain right now or I would have already checked a fuse but would it be fuse related if momentary high beams work

3) drivers side power seats are not working none of the adjustments however passenger side is working correctly.

Any suggestions is appreciated to get me started getting her fixed she is a 2002 XJSport and has 195000 but looks near new in and out. Runs and shifts like a champ.

#1 isn't an issue. That the solinoid that locks/unlocks the shifter.
#2, are you pulling or pushing the lever? Not in my car but from memory pull is "flash to pass", pushing turn high beams on.
#3, check fuses under left heelboard. There is a 20 amp and a 5 amp for the power seat.

#2 Most likely a broken wire-to-post solder connection on the multifunction switch. Search multifunction switch; removing steering wheel; clock spring. Fixing is simple once you have removed enough to get at the wiring to the switch. Might be easier to buy a new switch than try the very precise soldering job (vice grips and suture tweezers make a great third hand).

The wiring diagram in the stickies will show you which post, which wire where.

#3 most likely the fuse, as noted above.

Ok the headlight issue is resolved I had a loose relay cleaned it reseated and it is working all engine compartment fuses was checked while I was there and all those were good. Now to tackle issue #3 I have to locate that fuse box because I have no owners or service manual.

Also should issue #1 be clicking everytime I break while driving I would assume that it would only do that when I initially depress break to take it out of park?

Fuse box under front edge of Rear seat. Should be a 1/4 turn fastener holding cover on.
Believe it's fuse #1 (20amp) and #8 (5amp)
Your fuse box cover in the trunk shows a full list.
Shift lock solinoid in mine can only be heard when stopped and shifting out of park but not while driving

You should be able to find a download for the manual -- the car has many fuse and relay locations.

One thing about the relays -- They do fail. Did you actually see corrosion on the relay exterior contacts? Not seated correctly?

I say this because the relays are famous for intermittent operation when they start to go. Owners think they have solved the problem when actually nothing has changed and the really fails again in short order.

The relays are very inexpensive -- I always have one on the shelf.
