Protecting bolts from corrosion?
Hi,
I have opened the cam covers in my 2003 XKR in order to replace the gaskets etc. All the retaining bolts and grommets were pretty badly corroded so I'm replacing them with new ones as well. Just wondering if there's a good way to prevent this sort of corrosion from happening again?
Ta,
Kari

I wire brushed the bolt head plating to a like new appearance but I do not know how long that will last.
My understanding is that the rearmost upper bolt on both banks is "special" in that its alloy will not interfere with the nearby cam sensor. (will someone more knowledgeable, please correct me if I am wrong)

there is a product called corrosion free, corrosionfree.com. it is a clear mineral oil based rust preventative. you can purchase it in aerosol cans and bulk liquid. i find that it works very well for your particular problem without changing stock finish or appearance.
