Question about spring dampers (shocks)
Further to my post on Jan 27th, I am replacing both front shocks. I found that when trying to torque down the top nut which attaches the shaft to the upper mount, the shaft started to rotate well before the required torque setting. It started rotating at 17 ft/lbs, and as far as I can tell the setting should be somewhere around 28 ft/lbs.

Depending on whether you have CATS shock or standard, you will either need to hold the shaft with a spanner (standard) as you tighten the nut or hold the shaft with an Allen key (CATS), however using either method means you wont get a torque wrench on it.
Race Diagnostic is correct, here's another idea: don't forget an impact wrench will by its design overcome the inertia of the rotating shaft. I can't imagine doing this job without an impact wrench so I assume you have one sitting there.
