Thanks to all for previous responses to my other thread on how wise it is to buy an XK8.

I'm considering a beautifully-cosmetic-condition XK8 -- 1999, 69,000 miles, asking $12,000, perfect interior and paint. New tires and custom chrome wheels. I called the owner and he answered my questions: he personally did the 3rd-gen secondary tensioners, car drives perfectly straight with excellent suspension, no leaks, no transmission or cooling problems, 5th owner (he owned it since 2005), BUT NO MAINTENANCE RECORDS.

My question: If I take it to the Jag dealer for an hour-long inspection, and the Jag mechanic says he could find no problems:
1) Does that mean this car could most-likely be a pretty safe bet?
2) Are there any specific questions I should tell the Jag mechanic to check for (besides secondary tensioners)?

There is another with far more detail that I cannot find at the moment.

Print out the best or a combination of the threads and hand them to the tech for a real thrill.
