Default Quick questions on Throttle Body Connector

Need to replace the three way connector to octopus hose as well as the small coolant hose that goes to the throttle body. The pictured line if disconnected would give me a lot more access for the replacement parts.

I would assume squeezing the round portion would release the tabs holding it in place?

Very tight spot doesn't look like I can squeeze it with my fingers. Any tips?

Are these connectors prone to break removing them?

Is there a O ring inside that could/should be replaced before reinstalling it?

What exactly is this line?

Thanks in advance mates.

Cheers!

Andrew

Looks like your part-load breather.
The connectors are fairly robust but the convoluted hose they attach to will break if you sneeze too hard.

There's a special tool to remove them - see this post by motorcarman:

I think these C-clips were originally fitted at both ends on the early cars? Mine still has them, albeit they're slightly different inasmuch as there is a barb on each leg so they stay in place.

My plb hose fell apart when I did the first lot of valley hoses about 6 or 7 years ago. The dealer didn't have a replacement in stock so I opted to use fuel line, which has worked just fine since.

Can't remember if there's an O ring in there, but it would make sense.

edit: to actually answer your question, you should be able to squeeze the ring on each side, but you may need a little levering assistance as it's quite tight, IIRC.

As always, thanks Mike, The connector to the left of the PLB I was planing on just disconnecting but, would rather just pull the sensor/connector off together. Two torq screws would remove everything in my way as opposed to separating the connector and leaving the sensor in place.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

This connection had previously broken and was not fixed correctly on my car. I was able to get a replacement part and also replaced an o-ring inside. Plan for it to break.

I removed the intake tube for access and possibly some clips holding wires. I can't remember which I did for valley hoses and which when I replaced the TB though.

There isn't any locking paint on the sensor in the picture, which I take to mean that there's no adjustment available to its position, so I guess you can move it out of the way. Must say it all looks very clean & shiny in there

Easiest option is to remove the TB, although I get that you're concerned about the plastic parts. TBH, I'd be minded to replace that hose before you start getting air leak issues - particularly if it's original and has baked over the years.

Hey Mike

I figured removing the sensor and connector as one would be the way to go. Besides having more access to replace the hose I also will have a better angle on the PLB connector as well to try and remove it without destroying it. Thanks a bunch!

Cheers!
