Default Quirky memory function

In my 2005 XKR, I have set memory 1 for myself and memory 2 for my wife, although lately I have been the only one driving the car. Anyway, every so often I will hit memory 1 and, typically, I get the beep telling me that all adjustments are already in memory 1 position. However, every so often if I hit memory 1 the seat, seatback, etc. will move into what I believe is the memory 2 position. Are there ghosts in the machine?

Anyone else have this happen? I assume it is just a harmless quirk of the computer.

I was going to look at the grounding system this spring and see what I can find. At times my interior light might come on and then go off and I think a poor ground might be part of the problem.

I have Memory 1 set for driving, Mem 2 for entry/exit so I use them daily. They are always doing something strange. Moving the seatback forward and then back, stopping in wrong places. I just write it off to British electronics.

The memory circuit must have been designed by Lucas

Which reminds me of the old joke from my Triumph era.

The reason the British drink warm beer is that Lucus makes refrigerators too.

I have a ghost in my car as well. If I leave the power mirror selector switch on either right or left the mirrors will move on their own at random. If I leave the switch in the middle when not in use I dont have a problem. Doesn't bother me but it is a bit weird.

Probably somehow also connected with the memory function as I believe that the memory setting include mirror position.
