Default Radiator cooling fans won't kick in after condenser change

Hey everyone!
After I installed an aftermarket ac condenser my radiator fans would never kick in, therefore the car is overheating in traffic. I am using old scanner to read coolant temperature, and while going around 80 km/h engine temp is like 88-92c, but in traffic today it hitted 110, and then 115 when I shut the engine off. Can changed aftermarket ac condenser mess with the car brains, or it's just that probably the fans are not connected?

V, you're new here welcome.
Please always remember to state year and model. I put it in my signature so it always auto populates.

Know this: when AC is on fan always is on automatically - always

90c is 194f. Not very hot.

110c is 230f. I've seen this on hot days stop and go traffic.
115c is almost 240f - too high imo

Frankly I don't understand how you're keeping the temp this low without any fans!

Temp sensor seems to be working. If I knew the year I'd look up fuse for you.

Checking: still no fan after key out car parked?

Did you remove fans for the job? Fans are plugged in now, right?

My fan (2000MY) is not always on with A/C. Pressure switch is involved in the switching but unsure of details.

insert resistor across temp sensor plug contacts, fan should kick in if good and plugged in.

Look at the diagram for your year in jagrepair.com as there are two types ..simple relay switched and PCM.

Hi John,

its 1999 XKR. Yep, still no fans after the key is out. I guess I’m keeping the temp that low without any fans just by going more than 80km/h 😀
My suspicion is that the mechanic didn’t plug the fans in, but I’m not sure. I’ll check today

Oh that would make sense, didn't realize you didn't do the job.

File this away for yourself:
Its really easy to take fans out to improve access. Just remember the nut side of the hold down screw is floating. IOW it'll drop into void if not careful.

The plugs will be really EZ to see. Let us know.

My guess is that the mechanic forgot to plug in the fans, or the pressure sensor maybe?

FYI 1998 Fuses:

Engine compartment left hand side

Fuse #12 30 amps cooling fans series/parallel

Fuse #14 30 amps cooling fans parallel

[There are 22 fuses or fuse slots in this fuse box #'s 10 & 20 not used]
