Radio dead 2 x weeks when battery is off
I have a XK8 - 2000 that shows an strange behavior when the battery is disconnected. When the battery is disconnected and then connected back again, the radio code screen appears, BUT it takes at least about 2 x weeks to show the code input in the display . Meanwhile, the radio is completely dead, I mean, display off, no live, nothing. After a random time , close to 2 x weeks , the display suddenly switches on asking for the code.
The radio is old, 20 years so I guess this random behavior is related with a capacitor that takes too long to reach the required voltage or something similar . Any of you with the similar symptoms ?
The radio reference is AJ2050W - LJD4100AA ( Europe )
Thanks in advance.
Rafael

Rafael,
I had an intermittent radio problem and it was down to a dodgy earth.
The radio head unit has an accessible earth connection in the passenger seat footwell on the side of the Centre Tunnel. Unscrew and clean this.
It’s worth a try.
