Hey everyone,
I posted this in another thread (Wow us with your XK8/R Photos), but decided to create my on thread. Interior is undeniably sporty with British class Weekend wash and detail Gorgeous curves from all angles
I’ve got this 2004 Jaguar XKR convertible that I believe might be a one-of-one spec globally, and I thought I’d share the story with fellow enthusiasts who would appreciate the details.
It’s finished in Platinum Silver Metallic (Paint Code: MDZ) with a Reims Red leather interior (Trim Code: CGT) and burl walnut trim — not carbon fiber. No nav screen, just timeless analog dials.
From what I’ve found:
Jaguar didn’t widely offer Reims Red until the Portfolio Edition (which had carbon fiber trim and different exteriors)
This color combo was never listed as a regular production pairing
VIN, build date (July 2003), and factory sticker all confirm it’s a legit factory spec, not modified
I’ve done some deep research and by all reasonable estimates, this configuration may be 1 of fewer than 3 worldwide, and possibly the only one with this exact combination of silver/red/walnut and analog gauges.
I put together a full collector sheet with a rarity chart, historic notes, and show highlights. Happy to share it if anyone’s interested or wants to compare registry details.
Would love to hear if anyone else has seen one like it — or knows how to confirm final production data with Jaguar Heritage.
Well, straight off, no, I've 100% never seen this Reims Red color before. There's many people here that know a lot more than me regarding production numbers or to confirm rarity. It's an interesting color combo that goes together really well and trust me it will get noticed .It's a beautiful car and you also found the greatest resource for Jaguar enthusiasts on the planet. Two great finds in a row you're on a roll lol. Enjoy your car and I have to ask is this your first Jag (x100)?
My Father was born in London, England in the early 1930s.
Through war and hardship, he managed to find success in Canada. Although he always dreamed of owning a Jaguar, we never bought one, although he could certainly afford one in the second half of his life. He always put his family’s needs first. He retired in his early 70s and thought the idea of owning a Jaguar had passed him. One day, after not feeling well, he went to the doctor and was told he had pancreatic cancer. He rushed out, bought this car and drove it 3 times before he became too sick to drive it again.
For the most part, it sat untouched in my mother’s garage for a decade. My mother drove it now and then, but her bad hips made it too difficult to get in and out of it.
I bought the car off of her in 2016 and made a promise to myself that it would be perfectly preserved and passed down to my son.
As much as I thought that the car being rare and a nice color combination was pretty cool your background story made the car way way more special. Thanks for sharing it.
I do have one question? How is it that you've been able to own and maintain this car for 9 years and be a new member here?
I've owned my car for the same period of time and I know for a fact that I would not have been able to do that without the help, guidance and resources I've gotten from this site.
Cool story, lucky kid!! I loved my dad and he was a good man and taught me much about cars, but he wasn't what I would call cool. You are a cool dad.
I agree with Shoreguy that I wouldn't be driving mine today without the help of this forum. Knowledge beyond belief.
How old is your son and does he know this plan?? LOL TM
