Default Rear Shock Wiring Harness Access for CATS?

Can I unplug / untangle the wiring harness to the rear shocks on an XKR without removing the fuel tank? If so, how? I can not even see the top of the shocks with the carpeted trunk trim removed.

Default Minimum work for rear shock CATS harness.

If my goal is simply to unplug the rear shocks harness at the top of the shock absorber, what is the easiest way? Do I really need to remove the damper, or can I just drop something a couple inches?
Also, is the rear shock harness the same size & shape & orientation as the front two shocks that can be accessed from the hood?

Would be easier to disconnect the CATS ecu.
