Default Rear Suspension Help - Wishbone Spacers

Hi All,

I am currently rebuilding the suspension on my 2002 XKR (4.2) I'm at the bolting it back together stage and came to the below stage in the JTIS:

Now, I was pretty fastidious when dismantling to bag and tag all the bits and I do not have any flat sided washers. I Then checked the jaguar parts diagram (to Vin 042775 - which includes my car) .

And noticed parts 10 & 11 on the diagram (part numbers MNA2885AA & 2885BA wishbone spacer front & Rear) these are ridiculously expensive. I then noticed there was a seperate parts list from VIN 30465 - which also includes my car See below.

The parts in question no longer appear, all other parts appear the same.

At the moment I'm working on the assumption that some vehicles between VINS 30465 and 42775 were fitted with the spacers, and some weren't and as I didn't have them on mine when I stripped it down I dont need them.

I'm just wanting to get others thoughts on this before I put the axle back in the car, it was a right pain to get out!

Has anyone seen the parts in question, are they something that could hve been fitted and disintegrated?

Any comment appreciated.

Cheers.

I refurbed my rear suspension recently and they were installed on my vehicle. They are big chunks of steel (washer is a bit of a misnomer really) so there's no way they would disappear. Equally on my set up there's no way you could put it back together without them.

Some photos may help.

Here's the spaces/washers before dismantling.

The flat side of the spacer/washer.

The support bracket on my 1998 convertible. The second parts diagram in your post looks like they modified this part and did away with the washers.

Thanks, that puts my mind at rest. I was worried I was going to have to shell out another £140 on a project that's already gone way over budget!

^^

Looks like a nice job.

Inside the lower arm, are there bushings where the
fulcrum bolt passes through?

Still trying to release those bolts.

Thanks for the replies guys,

Washers definitely not needed on mine.

Got the axle back on the car last night.

Does anyone who has done this before have any tips for getting the bolts back in the exhaust brackets on the top of the aframe??

Tried for about 2 hours last night until my arms had turned to jelly without managing to do a single one!

Default exhaust mounts

oops , too late! you should have taken the oportunity whilst it was in bits to weld the nut to the frame so you only need to use one hand to put it all back

They are a complete pain but I did manage to get mine back in eventually. I found I had to get into a position where I could come at the bolts from two sides by wrapping my arms around the half shafts etc. One hand to hold the bolt in position and the other with a ratchet spanner to get them started. There was definitely one route through the suspension & half shafts that allowed me better access than all the other options. It's just a case of fiddling until you find what's best for you. I also wedged in a small screwdriver to create a gap between the exhaust bracket and the diff frame which gave me a bit more wiggle room to get the bolts started. Good luck!

Can't advise as I welded nuts on to the brackets also, but your refurb is looking great.

FYI there is a meet at south Queensferry next Monday if you get it back together in time.

Cheers for the replies fellas.

Ended up feeding a longer m6 bolt from the top and fitting a nut to the underside. Managed to hold the top bolt with a stubby and tighten the nuts with a stubby ratchet. An absolute ball-ache of a job!

Wheels now back on and ready to go. Just need to work out why my abs warning light is on - but that can wait till tomorrow now is beer time!

RaceDiagnostics what time is the meet? I'm having the geometry set up on Monday so I may just head out in that direction to test it out!

Re ABS light. I had the same issue but it disappeared after a couple of miles. I assume it needs to do some recalibration/reset.
